This place was a grand home for the sultan's court. His life was filled with many changes and big decisions.

His rule happened in three separate parts. The first part began in 1293 when he was only eight years old. He was a sultan in name, but others held the power. Leaders named Kitbugha and al-Shuja‘i made the real choices. Later, Kitbugha was removed and an-Nasir was sent away. He lived in a place called al-Karak.

He returned to Egypt in 1299 to start his second reign. He was fourteen years old when he arrived in Cairo. People celebrated his return with great joy.

During his second reign, life was often difficult. Two emirs named Salar and Baibars led the military. They fought a large army led by Ghazan. This fight happened at the Battle of Wadi al-Khazandar in 1299.

An-Nasir's army of 20,000 soldiers lost to Ghazan's 12,000 men. Many people fled from Damascus to Egypt during this time. Cairo became very crowded with these refugees. An-Nasir had to work hard to bring order back to his lands.

In his third reign, an-Nasir finally took full control. He did not want emirs to rule for him anymore. He chose new leaders who were loyal to him. He even removed officers if he doubted their loyalty. He worked to make life better for common people. He stopped unfair taxes that officials used to take money. He hired Ibn al-Waziri to fight corruption in the courts.

This helped make the government more honest.

An-Nasir Muhammad left a lasting mark on history. He ruled until he died in 1341. Many beautiful things were made during his time. People made special items like brass bowls.
