They lived a long time ago during the Cretaceous period. Most lived on a big land called Gondwana. Today, we find their fossils in Africa and South America. We also find them in Europe and Madagascar.

These dinosaurs had very strange heads. Their skulls were tall but very short. Many had bumps or ridges on their bone. Some had bony horns above their eyes.

Scientists think they used these for showing off.

Their bodies were built for walking on two legs. They had thick, strong back legs.

But their front arms were very tiny. These arms are called vestigial. This means they were small and not useful. In some types, like Carnotaurus, the arms were very short. They could not even move their elbows. Most were between 5 and 9 meters long. One large find in Kenya was 11 to 12 meters long.
