Many people still remember his connection to the sacred lake. It is said he was the first to find its sacredness. Monks still go to the lake to seek guidance. They meditate there to look for visions about the next reincarnation. This system was made more formal during his time. Gedun Gyatso lived a long and busy life. He died in 1542 while he was in deep meditation. He was 67 years old when he passed away.
