He was known for his love of the color blue. He made a special paint called International Klein Blue. This blue was very bright. He used a special way to make it stay shiny.

He also used people as "living brushes." He covered models in blue paint. They pressed their bodies onto paper to make art. He even made art using rain and soot.

Klein was also a master of judo. He traveled to Japan to study the sport. He was the first European to reach the rank of yondan. This means he was a fourth-degree black belt.

He wanted art to be a grand event. Once, he showed an empty room.

He called this empty space "The Void." Thousands of people waited in line to see it. He even sold empty space for gold. He gave buyers a paper to show they owned it. Klein wanted people to feel something new through his art.
