He liked to make people think about what art really is. He did not always use normal paint or brushes. Instead, he used many strange things to make his work. He used white clay called kaolin on cloth. He also used bread rolls, cotton, and even rabbit skin.

Manzoni made a series of white works called Achromes. These pieces used many different materials to look colorless. He also made art with balloons. Some were called Artist's Breath. These were filled with his own breath.

He once made art using hard-boiled eggs. He put his thumbprints on them and gave them to people to eat. In 1961, he made 90 small cans. He called them Artist's Shit. He priced these cans based on the weight of gold. People still buy these cans for a lot of money today.
