Researchers found three fossils of this animal. They found an adult, a teenager, and a baby. These fossils show long, thin feathers. The feathers may have helped the dinosaur stay warm. The weather in its home was quite cold.

Scientists also study its growth, or ontogeny. This is the way an animal changes as it gets older. As Yutyrannus grew, its skull became deeper and stronger. Its legs and arms became smaller compared to its body.
