It sits in Yosemite National Park. This park is in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. The falls have three main parts. The first part is the Upper Yosemite Fall. Yosemite Creek makes this part. The water drops over a hanging valley. It makes a loud sound.

The middle part is called the Middle Cascades. It has four small drops. Most people cannot see these from the valley floor. The last part is the Lower Yosemite Fall. This is near a place called Yosemite Lodge. It is easy to reach. You can see the water flow into the Merced River. The water flows most in late spring. In dry years, the falls may stop in late summer.
