Many Muslims do this to be pure. They do wudu before they pray or read the Quran.

It is important to do these steps in order. People should not take long breaks between them.

Most people use pure water for wudu. This can be water from a tap, a lake, or even melted snow. But what if there is no water? If water is not available, Muslims can use clean sand. This is called tayammum. It is a way to stay clean when water is gone.

Some things can make a person lose their wudu. These include deep sleep or using the bathroom. If these things happen, the person must do wudu again before they pray. This helps them stay ready for worship.
