In 1902, Carrier found a way to fix an air problem. A printing company had a hard time with paper. The summer air was very humid. Humid means the air holds a lot of water. This wet air made the paper grow and shrink. Because of this, the printed pictures did not look good.

Carrier made a machine to solve this. His system did four main jobs. It controlled the heat. It controlled the humidity. It moved the air around. It also cleaned the air.

In 1906, he made a new tool. It used spray to change the air. He could make the air wetter or drier. He even found a way to keep the wetness at a steady level. This helped engineers design better machines.

Carrier started a big company in 1915. It was called the Carrier Engineering Corporation. Many people worked there. His ideas helped people work more in the summer. Today, his company is still a world leader in cooling systems.
