Twister (game)

arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Twister is a fun game of skill.

It uses a large plastic mat on the floor. The mat has rows of colored circles. These circles are red, yellow, green, and blue.

A spinner tells you where to move. It can call out a hand or a foot. For example, it might say "left foot blue." You must move to that color. Players use their own bodies as game pieces. This can make you feel like a human pretzel! You must stay up. If you fall, you are out. If your knee or elbow touches the mat, you also lose.

The game was made by Charles Foley and Neil Rabens. It was first called "Pretzel." It became very famous in 1966. People of all ages can play it together. Some people even make the game for blind players. They use special shapes on the mat so players can feel the spots. In 2023, a new version called Twister Air came out. It uses a phone to track how you move.
