Tiddlywinks is a game of skill and strategy.

You play it on a large felt mat. The game uses small discs called winks. You shoot the winks using a tool called a squidger.

To win, you must land your winks in a central pot. You can also play defense. This is called a squop. A squop happens when you land your wink on top of an opponent's wink. If you squop a wink, that player cannot move it. This makes the game very deep. Players must plan many moves ahead. Some say it is like a mix of golf and chess.

The game became very popular in the 1890s. Later, students at Cambridge University helped make it a modern sport in 1955. Today, there are big groups that run tournaments. Players can play in pairs or alone. They use high-grade equipment to play their best. Some top players even carry twenty different squidgers to use for different shots.
