Tayabas Isthmus

geography Maturity 11-13 Next article →

The Tayabas Isthmus is a strip of land. An isthmus is a narrow piece of land. It connects two larger areas of land. This one connects the Bicol Peninsula to Luzon. Luzon is a large island. This land also sits near the Bondoc Peninsula. That peninsula is between Tayabas Bay and Ragay Gulf.

The isthmus sits in the province of Quezon. It is between two bodies of water. One is Tayabas Bay. The other is Lamon Bay. The land gets very narrow here. Luzon is usually wide. But it narrows at this spot.

Many small towns are on this land. These towns are in Quezon. They include Atimonan and Plaridel. Other towns are Padre Burgos and Agdangan. You can also find Unisan and Pitogo here. This place is a key part of the land. It helps link the different parts of the island together.
