This species is named Homo luzonensis. They lived on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Most of their bones were found in Callao Cave. These remains include teeth and phalanges, which are finger and toe bones.

These people lived a very long time ago. A study found their bones are about 134,000 years old. Their ancestors had to cross the sea to reach the island. They may have come from a group called Homo erectus.

These ancient people may have been very small. This might be due to insular dwarfism. This is when animals get smaller because they live on an island.

The bones show a mix of traits. Some parts look like modern humans. Other parts look like very old species. Their finger bones were long and curved. Their teeth were also quite small. We know they used tools. They brought deer into the cave to eat. We found cut marks on the deer bones.
