This place has a big history. Long ago, the bay was called Edo Bay. The channel was a very important spot. It was the first place foreign ships met Japan. In 1846, two U.S. Navy ships anchored here. Later, in 1853, Commodore Matthew Perry arrived. His group was called the Black Ships.
