Sagami Bay is a part of the sea in Japan. It sits in central Japan on the island of Honshu. The Miura Peninsula is to the east. The Izu Peninsula is to the west. The island of Izu Ōshima is at the south end.

Many cities are near the water. These include Odawara, Chigasaki, and Fujisawa. Other cities are Hiratsuka, Itō, and Kamakura. Three rivers flow into the bay. These are the Hikiji, Sagami, and Sakai rivers.

The water in the bay stays warm. This is because of the Kuroshio Current. This warm water helps many sea animals live there. The bay also has cold water from the Oyashio Current. This makes the bay a very busy place for sea life. The deepest part is about 1500 meters down.

Sometimes, big events happen here. In 1923, a large earthquake hit the area. The center was deep under Izu Ōshima Island. It caused damage to Tokyo and many nearby places. In 1498, a large wave also hit the coast.

Scientists study the bay often. They look at the water and the sea life. They use tools to learn more about the deep ocean.
