Slacklining is a sport where people balance on a flat strap.

This strap is called webbing. It is tied between two anchors. Unlike a tightrope, a slackline is not very stiff. It can stretch and bounce like a narrow trampoline. People use their arms to help them stay balanced.

There are many ways to slackline. Tricklining is a common style. It is often done low to the ground. People do many moves like jumping or spinning. Some experts even do flips. Highlining is another style. This is done high above the ground or water. Many people think it is the best part of the sport.

Highliners often wear a harness and a leash for safety.

Some people practice urbanlining. This means they slackline in cities or parks. They might try timelining. This is seeing how long you can stay on the line. It takes a lot of focus and strength. Slacklining has been around since the 1970s. It started with a rock climber named Adam Grosowsky.
