Many wild animals live in these mountains. You might see an Amur tiger or a leopard. There are also brown bears and reindeer. The mountains are home to a very rare beetle. This beetle belongs to the family Jurodidae. Some trees here live for a thousand years. These are called Japanese yew trees.

Many rivers flow through the range. These rivers go to the big Amur River. In 1947, a large meteorite shower fell here. These rocks from space hit the ground. They made craters in the earth. Today, this place is a World Heritage Site. This means it is very important to the world. It helps rare animals stay safe and live well.
