The mountains lie north and west of Lake Taymyr. They form a long, curved shape. The range runs from the southwest to the northeast.

It is a very cold and harsh place. The weather has many snow storms in winter. No people live here. There are no roads or towns nearby. This makes it hard to reach. The area is part of a very large nature park. This park is the largest in Russia.

The mountains are made of many types of rock. You can see siltstones and limestone there. Some parts have small glaciers, which are large sheets of ice. The mountains have deep canyons and ravines. The average height is about 600 meters. The highest peak is 1,134 meters. Two rivers, the Khutudabiga and Chetyrekh, start here. To the north and south, the land is tundra. This land has many small lakes and wet marshes.
