Sesame is a very tough plant. It can grow in hot places with very little rain. Some people call it a "survivor crop." This is because it grows where other crops fail. People have used sesame for a long time. It is one of the oldest seeds known to humans. It was grown in India and ancient Egypt.

Today, many countries grow sesame. Sudan, India, and Myanmar grow the most. In 2022, the world grew 6.7 million tonnes of seeds. Some people are allergic to sesame. This means they can get sick if they eat it. It is important to check food labels to stay safe.
