Long ago, Korea was made of three lands. These were Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. A man named Kim Pusik wrote a big book about them. He worked with a team of scholars. King Injong of Goryeo asked them to do this work. They finished the book in the year 1145. It is the oldest book of Korean history still around today.

Kim Pusik wrote in Classical Chinese. This was the writing used by smart people back then. He used many old records to write the book. Some of those old records are lost now. He also used records from China. The book has fifty parts. Some parts tell stories of kings. Other parts tell about the lives of famous people.

This book is very helpful for students. It has many small details. Some parts show how people used to speak. We can even see it on computers now. It is a great way to learn about the past.
