Many cultures used rouge long ago. Ancient Egyptians used red earth mixed with fat. In China, people used juice from flowers. Red means good luck and joy in Chinese culture. Greek people used crushed berries to make a paste. In Rome, people used minerals like cinnabar. This was not safe for their health.

Today, we often call this blush. It comes in many colors like pink or orange. You can use a brush to put powder on your cheeks. This helps show the shape of your face. Some rouge is made from flower petals. Other types use a liquid or a gel. People spend much money on these products every year. They use them to look bright and colorful.
