Face powder

language culture Maturity 9-11 Next article →

Face powder is a tool used to change how skin looks.

People use it to look bright or to hide spots. There are two main kinds. Loose powder is fine and soft. It helps soak up oil to stop shine. Pressed powder is solid. It helps cover blemishes.

People have used powder for a very long time. In ancient Egypt, people used it for beauty. They even put jars in graves. They hoped for beauty in the afterlife.

In China, women ground up rice for powder. Some even crushed pearls. This helped their skin look radiant.

In the past, some powders were not safe. They used lead to look white. This could make people very sick. Queen Elizabeth I used lead powder. It helped hide scars from smallpox. Today, rules keep us safe. We use many types of powder now. Some are called mineral or HD powder. People even use a way called "baking." This means letting powder sit on the skin. It helps the skin look smooth.
