He is known as the "godfather of modern street skating." This is because he made many new tricks. He grew up on a farm in Florida. He practiced in his garage for many hours.

One of his biggest moves is the flatground ollie. An ollie is a way to make the board jump. A skater pops the tail and drags their foot. This makes the board fly into the air.

This move helps skaters jump onto rails or curbs. It is the base for almost all street skating today.

Rodney also made many flip tricks. These include the kickflip and the heelflip. He can make the board spin in the air. He even made the impossible and the 360-kickflip.

He was very good at contests. He won his first world title at age 14. In the next ten years, he won 34 out of 35 contests. Later, he moved from freestyle to street skating. He joined teams like the Bones Brigade and Plan B.
