Terje Håkonsen is a famous snowboarder from Norway. He is one of the most important riders in history.

He grew up in a mountain village. As a child, he was very good at many sports. He played football and went cross-country skiing. People even called him "little Maradonna" because of his skill.

Terje became a star in the 1990s. He was great at riding in a halfpipe. A halfpipe is a large U-shaped track made of snow. He won many world and European titles there. He also loves freeriding. This means riding on big mountains and through deep powder.

Terje can fly very high. In 2007, he set a world record. He jumped 9.8 meters above a quarterpipe. A quarterpipe is a snow ramp that is shaped like half a pipe.

He does not like strict rules. He even started his own contest called The Arctic Challenge. He wanted riders to compete on their own terms. Today, he helps people with disabilities enjoy the snow. He also works to keep sporting events green.
