They started with a small touring show. Soon, it became one of the largest in America.

The brothers had many different jobs. Alfred was a juggler. John was a singer and a professional clown. Charles and John helped run the business. They even chose to move the circus to Sarasota, Florida.

Family members helped the circus grow. Al's wife, Lou, was very busy. She made clothes for the show. She also worked with horses and snakes.

The family moved many times. They lived in Iowa and Wisconsin first. In 1919, they joined their show with another famous group. This group was called Barnum and Bailey. Together, they made the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. This show was very famous for a long time.
