The Flying Wallendas are a famous circus group.

They are known for walking on thin wires high in the air. For a long time, they did not use a safety net. This makes their acts very brave and difficult.

Karl Wallenda started the group. He began performing when he was only six years old. He led the group to big shows like the Ringling Brothers circus. Karl was famous for a seven-person chair pyramid. This is a stack of people sitting on chairs on a wire.

Being a daredevil is hard and can be very sad. Some family members have fallen and died during their acts. One man fell while performing a pyramid in 1962. Other family members were hurt in accidents too.

Even after these hard times, the family keeps going. Nik Wallenda is a famous member today.

He walked over Niagara Falls. He also walked between two tall buildings in Chicago. He even walked a wire while wearing a blindfold! Many of Karl's grandchildren still perform in the circus today.
