This strait connects the Baltic Sea to the ocean. It is one of four paths for ships. This makes it one of the busiest waterways in the world. Many boats travel through it every day.

A large bridge crosses the water.

It links Copenhagen and Malmö. This bridge helps nearly 4 million people live and work in the area. Some people also use a ferry to cross. The ferry route between Helsingør and Helsingborg is very busy. It has over 70 trips from each harbor every day.

The water here is quite special. It is a mix of salt water and fresh water. This makes it a home for many sea animals. You might find lobsters or crabs living there. You can also see lion's mane jellyfish.

The water changed a long time ago. About 8,000 years ago, rising sea levels made this strait. This turned the Baltic Sea into a salt-water sea.
