This is a special realm. It is made by the power of a Buddha. These lands are places without suffering. Many people want to be reborn there after death.

One very famous place is Sukhavati. This is the land of Amitabha Buddha. Long ago, Amitabha was a king. He became a monk and made forty-eight vows. He promised to make a land for all beings. This land is a place to learn and grow.

Some thinkers say there are many kinds of lands. Some are pure and some are impure. Our world might seem impure to some. But other texts say our world is also pure. They say purity comes from a pure mind. If your mind is pure, you are in a Pure Land. Time may also work differently there. One day in a Pure Land could be many years here.
