Many people in East Asia follow this tradition. Some call it the Lotus School in China. In Japan, it is known as the Nembutsu school.

The main goal is to be reborn in a "pure land."

A pure land is a special place. It is a place to reach full Buddhahood. These lands are beautiful and full of gold and gems. In a pure land, people can meet a Buddha face to face. They can study without any fear or distraction.

Most people want to go to Sukhavati. This is the "Land of Bliss" for Buddha Amitābha. Some people also look toward other pure lands. To get there, many people practice mindfulness. This often means reciting the name of Amitābha. This is called niànfó in China. In Japan, it is called nembutsu.

This way offers hope to many people. It says that even ordinary people can find peace. They can reach a high stage of wisdom. This path is very important in China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
