Pedro Pablo Kuczynski is a man who has worked in many important roles. He was an economist, a public administrator, and a politician. Most notably, he served as the 66th president of Peru from 2016 to 2018.

Throughout his life, he focused on how money and government work together. He held many high-level jobs in both Peru and the United States. His career shows how one person can move between the worlds of business and politics.

His journey began with a move across the world. His parents fled Germany in 1933 to escape the Nazis. They moved to Peru, where Kuczynski was born in the Miraflores District of Lima.

He also worked at major investment banks in New York City. He held leadership roles at firms like Kuhn, Loeb & Co. and First Boston. He even helped start a private equity firm called the Latin American Enterprise Fund in 1992.

In Peru, he served the government in several big ways. In the early 1980s, he was the Minister of Energy and Mines under President Fernando Belaúnde Terry. He later served as the Minister of Economy and Finance under President Alejandro Toledo.

He also served as the prime minister of Peru in 2005. After a long career in finance, he ran for president in 2016. He won the election and was sworn in on July 28, 2016.

His time as president ended due to serious legal challenges. The Congress of Peru began impeachment proceedings against him in late 2017. This happened after accusations involving a construction company called Odebrecht.

Some people accused him of receiving payments from the company. Facing another vote, Kuczynski resigned from the presidency on March 21, 2018. Martín Vizcarra became the new president after him. Since 2019, Kuczynski has been under investigation regarding these events.
