Ndola has huge amounts of this rock stored underground. This helps the city stay a very important place for building things.

History tells us how the city first began. The Lamba people lived in this area a long time ago. They moved from the Luba-Lunda kingdom around the year 1600. Later, a man named John Edward Stephenson founded the town in 1904. It started as a small trading post and a center for government. In 1907, a main railway line reached the town. This helped people and goods travel to places like Cape Town.

Getting around Ndola is quite easy for travelers. The city has the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport.
