Music radio

arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Music radio is a way to listen to songs. In the past, radio mostly played stories. Later, people wanted more music. This changed how radio works today. Now, music is the main part of many shows.

People called disc jockeys play the music. We call them DJs for short. They play records to keep the sound going. This stops the radio from being silent. One of the first DJs was Dick Clark. Today, music radio is the most common type of radio.

Stations use different styles to find listeners. Some play the forty best songs. This is called Top 40. Other stations play rock or country music. Some stations use jingles to help you know their name. A jingle is a short, bright song. It can tell you the station's name or its number.

Radio also helps you in your daily life. It gives news, weather, and traffic reports. Many people listen in the morning while they drive to work. This is called the morning drive time. Some stations also have special shows on the weekend. These can include music countdowns or world music.
