Building such a huge place is a very big job. The ground where it sits was very wet and soggy. Workers had to hammer 10,000 piles into the soil to make it strong. They also used machines to move 3 million cubic meters of earth. To make room, 8,000 people had to move to new homes. They even moved an old 18th-century church to a new spot. The stadium was finished in just 450 days.

This stadium has a very long and busy history. It was first built between 1955 and 1956. It was originally called the Grand Arena of the Central Lenin Stadium. In 1980, it was the main site for the Summer Olympic Games. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies there. Later, the stadium was renamed the Luzhniki Olympic Complex. In 1992, the name Lenin was removed from the site.

For that tournament, the stadium had 900 scanners and 3,000 cameras. This helped keep the many fans safe. In 2018, FIFA even named it the best arena in the world.

Luzhniki is a place for many different things. People go there for football, but also for big music concerts. Famous singers like Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones have performed there. The field itself is very special too. It uses a hybrid turf made of 95 percent natural grass. This grass is reinforced with plastic to keep it strong. It is a place where sports and music come together.
