He used a strong navy to fight on the sea. He even tried to capture the city of Nanjing in 1654. That battle was very hard and lasted for three weeks.

One of his biggest wins happened in Taiwan.

In 1661, Koxinga led his troops to attack the Dutch colonists. The Dutch had been living on the island for many years. Koxinga wanted the island to belong to China again. He led a siege against a place called Fort Zeelandia. In February 1662, the Dutch Governor named Frederick Coyett surrendered to him. This ended 38 years of Dutch rule on the island.

After his win, Koxinga worked to build up Taiwan. He gave farming tools and oxen to the local people. He also taught them new ways to farm the land. He wanted to make the island a strong base for his followers. Koxinga died suddenly in 1662 while planning a trip to the Philippines. Even though he is gone, people still honor him.
