Weavers use a wooden loom to make it. This is a tool that presses threads together. In Ghana, many people wear Kente for special events.

There are many stories about how Kente began. Some say weavers saw a spider's web. They tried to copy the patterns of the spider. This is part of the history of the Asante people. The Ewe people also have their own weaving traditions.

Every Kente pattern has a name. These names come from plants, history, or proverbs. The colors also tell a story. Gold means royalty and wealth. Blue means peace and love. Green means growth and new life.

Today, Kente is very popular around the world. Some students wear Kente stoles at graduation. This shows their pride in African culture. To keep the cloth special, Ghana has new laws. Only cloth made in certain towns can use the name Kente. This helps protect the real craft.
