She grew up in a small village. In her village, women made pottery. Ladi learned this skill from her aunt. She used a method called coiling. This means she used long ropes of clay to build shapes. She made large jars for water and bowls for food.

Ladi was a very talented artist. She decorated her pots with many patterns. She carved shapes like lizards, snakes, and fish into the clay. Sometimes she used a porcupine quill to scratch designs. She also used small wooden tools to roll patterns onto the surface. Her pots were very beautiful.

Ladi worked at the Abuja Pottery center. She was the first woman potter there. She also became a teacher for others. She showed women how to use a pottery wheel. She also taught them how to use a kiln, which is a hot oven for clay.

Many people around the world love her work. Her art is in big museums. Ladi won many awards for her skill. Her face is even on a Nigerian banknote.
