Anansi has many different names in different places. These stories traveled to the Caribbean and the Americas. They spread through the Atlantic slave trade. For many people, Anansi was a symbol of hope. His tricks helped people find ways to survive hard times. He showed how to use smart ideas to beat powerful foes.

In some tales, Anansi is a hero. In others, he can be selfish. One story says he tried to hide all the world's wisdom in a pot. He tried to hide it in a tree. His son, Ntikuma, saw him struggle. The boy told him how to climb better. This shows that even a clever spider can learn from others. Anansi stories are still told today in many parts of the world.
