The land in Kebbi has many different looks. The northern part of the state is sandy. In the south, the land is more rocky. Rivers are very important here. The Sokoto River flows through the state and meets the River Niger. The Rima River also flows through places like Argungu and Bagudo. You might see many animals in the wild, such as hippopotamuses, elephants, and manatees. Every year, people celebrate the massive Argungu Fishing Festival to see many kinds of fish.

Kebbi has a long and changing history. Long ago, the area was part of the Kebbi Kingdom. In the early 1800s, Fulani groups took part of the land. Later, the British took control of the area in the early 1900s. This was part of the Northern Nigeria Protectorate. Eventually, the area became part of an independent Nigeria in 1960. Kebbi State was officially formed on August 27, 1991, when it was taken from Sokoto State.

Many different groups of people live in Kebbi. The Hausa and Fulani people are the largest groups. Other groups include the Zarma, Lela, and many others. Most people in the state follow the Muslim faith. Hausa is the most common language spoken. People also use many other languages depending on where they live. For example, in the Argungu area, people speak Dendi and Zarma. In the Zuru area, people speak C'Lela and ut-Ma'in.

Life in Kebbi often revolves around the land. Many people work in agriculture to grow food. They grow crops like rice, onions, millet, and sorghum. Kebbi is a major producer of rice in Nigeria. Some farmers use special programs to grow wheat and rice. People also raise animals like cattle, goats, sheep, and camels. In the city of Birnin Kebbi, trading is a very important job.
