Most chameleons lay eggs. But Jackson's chameleons are ovoviviparous. This means they give birth to live young. The babies hatch inside the mother first. Then they are born alive. They stay inside the mother for five to six months. A mother can have eight to thirty babies. The dwarf subspecies has fewer. It has five to ten babies.
