These birds live in rainforests and bushy areas. They are very common. Some people say they are the most common bird in Australia.

These parrots have many colors. Their heads are deep blue. Their chests are orange or yellow. Their wings and backs are green.

In flight, you can see a yellow bar on their wings. Males and females look the same. To know the sex, a vet must use DNA from a feather.

Rainbow lorikeets have a special way of eating. They eat fruit, pollen, and nectar. Nectar is the sweet juice inside flowers. Their tongues have a special part at the end. This part helps them gather pollen and nectar.

They also eat things like mangoes and apples.

These birds often stay in pairs for a long time. They make nests in hollow trees or rock holes. The female sits on the eggs to keep them warm. This takes about 25 days. Sometimes, these birds can be pests. They may eat fruit from orchards or make a lot of noise in cities.
