She was known for being very smart and well-educated. Isabella was a master of improvisation, which means she made up her lines as she went. This skill helped her create characters that felt real and lively. She was so important to the theatre that a famous character named Isabella was named after her.

Isabella used her acting skills in many clever ways. She often played the role of the leading lady, or the prima donna innamorata.

She was very flexible and could even play male roles. For example, she played a character named Fabrizio, who was a pageboy. She was daring and sometimes even tore her clothes on stage for effect. This helped her make the comedy feel more spontaneous and fun. She used her talent to show how characters interacted with power.

Her life in the theatre began when she was quite young. In 1576, at age fourteen, she joined the troupe of Flaminio Scala.

She later married Francesco Andreini, who became the director of the company in 1589. Together, they managed the troupe and spoke with important people. Isabella was a dedicated mother to seven children while she traveled. Her son, Giambattista, also became an actor and a playwright. He later started his own company called the Fedeli.

Isabella was also a very successful writer of plays and poems.

In 1588, she wrote a play called Mirtilla. This play explored the lives and independence of women. She also wrote a large collection of 359 poems called Rime in 1601. She was so respected that she joined a literary society in Pavia. In a poetry contest, she even won second place. Her writing was considered just as impressive as her acting.

People all over Europe admired her work and her talent.
