Iraj Mirza was a famous poet from Iran who changed how people wrote.

He was known for using everyday words in his verses. This style is called colloquial poetry. Most poets used very formal language back then. Iraj Mirza wanted his poems to sound like real speech. This made his work feel new and exciting to readers. His poems often used humor and satire to talk about life. Satire is a way to use wit to point out problems in society.

Learning to write was a big part of his life. He attended a school called the Dār ol-fonoon in Tabriz. By the time he was 15, he knew four languages. He spoke Persian, French, Arabic, and Azerbaijani. He was also a master of calligraphy. Calligraphy is the art of beautiful, decorative handwriting.
