Many people have different beliefs about this. Ancient groups like the Mesopotamians believed gods could live forever. Some religions teach that a soul lives on after the body dies. In Christianity, many believe God will offer new life at the end of time.

Some animals show what we call biological immortality. This means they do not age like humans do.

A jellyfish called Turritopsis dohrnii can turn back into a baby. This lets it live for a very long time. Certain bacteria also live this way by splitting into two.

Scientists study how to make human life longer. They look at ways to stop aging and disease. Some think new tools might help us in the future. They talk about things like uploading a mind to a computer. This is called digital immortality. Others look at cryonics. This is the hope that people could be brought back later. We do not know if humans can ever live forever.
