In the ancient world, this power was everywhere. People saw it in the sun or in thunder. It was also in heroes and great leaders. Some thinkers saw it in the world itself. They believed a divine force kept the cosmos in order.

In ancient Greece and Rome, divinity was not just one thing. It could be a god or a spirit. Even a river or a mountain had a divine part. Some people felt a guiding voice called a daimon. This was like a spiritual influence.

Later, ideas changed with the rise of Christianity. Many people began to believe in only one God. This God was the creator of all things. Divinity was no longer spread through nature. It belonged only to the one God. This included the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
