Ikorodu is a large and busy city in Lagos State, Nigeria. It sits about 37 km north of the city of Lagos. The city lies along the edge of the Lagos Lagoon. To its north, it shares a border with Ogun State. To the east, it borders the town of Agbowa-Ikosi. This area is a very fast growing part of the Lagos region. Many people move here from nearby towns and villages.

Working in the city involves many different jobs. Many people work in trading, farming, or manufacturing. There is a large industrial area with many different factories. The town also has branches of several Nigerian banks. The city is divided into many small areas called "Ituns." These areas are part of the larger Ikorodu Division. This division includes towns like Imota, Isiu, and Ijede.

History tells us about the people who first lived here. The original settlers moved to Ikorodu from Sagamu. They also came from parts of Ijebu in Ogun State. Today, many people in the area speak the Ijebu dialect. The city has many traditional rulers called Obas. These leaders rule over different local council areas. This includes places like Igbogbo, Bayeku, and Ijede.

One very important place is the Imota rice mill. This large agricultural plant was built in 2021. It can produce 2.8 million bags of rice every year. Each bag weighs 50 kg. This mill is one of the largest in sub-Saharan Africa. It helps create many jobs for local people. The mill works by removing the tough outer husk from the rice. This makes the rice easier and better to eat.

There are many ways to learn and play in Ikorodu. There are 69 public primary schools and 12 secondary schools. Students can go to Caleb University or Lagos State University of Science & Technology. People who love to read can visit several public libraries. For fun, visitors can go to Cradoo Lake Waterfront. There are also beaches at Ijede and Odoro stream. Many people also visit the Palace of the Ayangburen.
