He was a political economist and a journalist. He lived during the 1800s. George is best known for his ideas about fairness. He believed that people should own what they create. However, he thought land should belong to everyone. This idea is called Georgism. It focuses on how we share the earth's resources.

George had a very interesting way of looking at the world. He noticed a strange pattern in how societies grew. Even when technology improved, many people stayed very poor.

He thought this happened because of how land was owned. He argued that land owners gained wealth without working. He suggested a single tax on land values. This tax would help make society more productive. It would also make things more just for everyone.

His life began in Philadelphia in 1839.
