The groin is a part of the body. It is the area where the torso meets the thigh.

This spot forms a crease called the inguinal groove. The groin holds many important parts. It contains the adductor muscles. These muscles help pull the thigh toward the middle of the body. Five muscles make up this group. They are the adductor brevis, longus, and magnus. They also include the gracilis and pectineus.

Under the skin, there are deep inguinal lymph nodes. These nodes help the immune system fight sickness. Sometimes these nodes swell from an infection. The groin also has many nerves and blood vessels. These parts sit close to the surface of the skin. Because of this, doctors may use the groin for medical tests. They can use it to enter the vascular system. This is the system that carries blood. A person can also get a hernia here. A hernia is when part of the body pushes through a weak spot. This can be a direct or indirect hernia.
