Many people helped make grime grow. It grew through pirate radio stations. These are unofficial radio stations. Artists used simple computer tools to make beats. This helped them make music on their own. Some famous artists include Wiley and Dizzee Rascal. Dizzee Rascal even won a big prize called the Mercury Music Prize.

Grime is special because it was made by young people. Many artists started making hits when they were only 16. It was a way for youth to make music for other youth. People also watched grime on DVDs. These videos showed artists performing and battling each other. This helped fans see the people making the music. Grime stays a big part of music in the UK.
