Some people say his book has mistakes in it. He sometimes wrote things that were not quite true about older artists. Even so, his writing helped shape how we talk about art.

Vasari used a special word to describe a time of change. He called it "rinascita," which means "rebirth" in Italian.

He also used the term "Gothic" to talk about the style of art from before. In his book, he wrote about how artists competed with each other. He believed this competition helped them do their very best work. This idea of competition helped keep the artists very hungry for success.

Today, we can still see many things that Vasari made.

You can visit his old house in Arezzo, which is now a museum.
