The Danube flows past the west bank of the city. Two other rivers meet the Danube very close by. The Siret river joins from the west side. The Prut river joins from the east side. When these rivers meet, the water flow becomes much stronger. The city is built on three different levels called terraces. These levels help shape where the old and new parts of the city sit. The weather has four clear seasons. Summers are very warm and can get quite hot. Winters are cold and dry.
